Package Testing Requirements for Limited Quantities of Dangerous Goods Shipped by Air [IATA 2.8.6]
Transportation
When a dangerous goods shipment meets the inner and outer package quantity limitations specified for limited quantities, the package need not be marked or tested to UN specifications.
Although UN specification packagings are not required for limited quantities, the package must still pass a drop test up to 1.2 m onto a rigid, horizontal surface in the position most likely to cause the most damage. There must be no leakage from the inner packages and the outer package must not show any damage following the test. The package must also pass a stacking test to prove that it is capable of a force applied to the top surface for 24 hours equivalent to the total weight of identical packages if stacked to height of 3 m (including the test sample).
