New Class 9 Label for Lithium Battery Shipments by Air [IATA DGR 4,,, SP A206]

The International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) 2017 Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) require a new label for packages containing lithium batteries.
The List of Dangerous Goods, in DGR Section 4, has six classifications for lithium batteries, with the new Lithium Battery label requirement listed in column D for each of these entries.
DGR section requires that when a package must bear the Class 9 label, lithium batteries must use the label shown at (pictured below).
Through December 31, 2018, special provision A206 allows use of the previous Class 9 label (pictured below) for packages containing lithium batteries prepared in accordance with Section IA or IB of Packing Instruction (PI) 965; Section IA or IB of PI 968; and Section I of PI 966, PI 967, PI 969, and PI 970.
