DOT Hazardous Materials Training: The Complete Webcast

This webcast class is being offered in lieu of our DOT Hazardous Materials Training: The Complete Course seminar, in keeping with CDC recommendations to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people. You will get all the same great information that you would in a face-to-face meeting.

All personnel involved in the shipment of hazardous materials (including hazardous waste) are required to receive initial DOT hazardous materials training and recurrent training every three years. According to 49 CFR 172.704, DOT hazardous materials training is required for personnel classified as “hazmat employees,” defined at 49 CFR 171.8 as employees who perform any job functions that affect the safe transportation of hazardous materials, including personnel who:

  • Load, unload, or handle hazardous materials
  • Label, mark, inspect, or design containers
  • Place hazardous materials into containers
  • Prepare hazardous materials for transportation
  • Prepare bills of lading or hazardous waste manifests
  • Operate a vehicle used to transport hazardous materials

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Determine which of the materials shipped from your site are classified as hazardous materials
  • Select packages that meet DOT requirements for your hazardous materials
  • Properly fill and seal packages
  • Mark, label, and placard hazardous materials
  • Take advantage of exceptions for limited quantities, consumer commodities, reverse logistics, and materials of trade
  • Complete and certify accurate shipping papers
  • Implement the 380 recent changes to the hazardous materials table
  • Provide emergency instructions and ensure the safety of hazardous materials
  • Comply with new requirements for emergency phone numbers, hazardous material ID numbers, and batteries
  • Satisfy your DOT hazardous material security requirements

Receive your required training and learn how to comply with the DOT regulations at this comprehensive seminar. This course fulfills your initial and recurrent training requirements.

The course handbook, Hazardous Materials Management: Compliance with the DOT Requirements, provides step-by-step instructions for shipping hazardous materials plus the latest regulations. The latest version of the DOT Emergency Response Guidebook is also included.
